How Can Facebook Groups Help Your Blog?
Aside from making new blogging friends, Facebook groups can greatly help your blog or your online business.
This is especially true if you’ve started a blog or are working on your personal branding.
Consider some of the top ways being part of a Facebook group for bloggers can be helpful:
- You get your questions answered
- Promotion opportunities to boost awareness, blog traffic and sales
- Learning about new blog and business tools and how to use them
- Collaboration opportunities
Anytime you have an opportunity to share your blog post, you raise the potential for blog traffic.
However, any threads for sharing posts on social media or comments, take time as you’re expected to help out others participating in those threads.
And some can skew your social media algorithms.

The State Of Facebook Groups For Bloggers In 2025
There are many “dead” Facebook groups for bloggers, business owners and social media influencers.
Every once in a while I check in to various Facebook groups I’ve joined over the years, and in my latest check-up, I found many without new updates or on “life support”. This means, the admins aren’t paying attention to them.
So this next section is going to be important. There are still some fantastic groups led by dedicated group owners.
How To Select The Best Facebook Group For Bloggers
Ever join a Facebook group and realize it’s a dud?
Yes, there are many out there on various lists prepared by bloggers that are out-of-date, and no longer active.
I’ll strive to keep this list up-to-date and relevant.
There’s a process for choosing worthwhile Facebook groups because nobody likes a long cluttered list of defunct groups.
- Check to see if they are active – how many posts are they sharing in a day?
- Join and see what it’s like. You’re not obligated to stick around forever
- If there are thousands of members but few are engaging, it may be a dying group.
- Check to see if the admin is posting regularly: if not they aren’t paying regular attention to their group.
- Check the group rules and observe if the members are following them.
- Check to see if the group rules will limit your participation (eg. your blog conflicts with the group owner’s business)
- Try it out with a comment or two. See if you get a response.
- Does it feel like a community or very impersonal?
- Is the admin using it to promote their services/products more than providing value?
- Does it look like a posting free-for-all with little admin involvement? It may be a poorly run group.
I’ve seen some groups with thousands of members lose participation because they aren’t run well.
Great groups are engaging with the admin/owner’s participation and provide value!
PRO TIP: Occasionally check which groups you’ve joined and which ones are inactive. Declutter your group list by leaving the group. I like to do this every few months to keep my group lists relevant and current!

Follow Facebook Group Rules & Etiquette
One of the things to know when you join Facebook groups for bloggers is that there are specific rules for each group.
Read the Group Rules and abide by them! If you’re not sure to post something ask the admin.
It’s important to follow group rules and follow general Facebook group etiquette.
I made the mistake of not following the rules a few years ago when I was a newbie, and I, unfortunately, was booted out of one of my favourite blogger groups.
I don’t want that to happen to you!
There’s one bad habit that I’ve seen among many who want to be a coach in a specific niche: poaching followers and clients.
If you want to promote yourself as a coach or service provider, build your own client base by starting your own Facebook group.
It’s very bad etiquette to slyly promote your knowledge and services in a group run by a competitor.
Be aware of how your comments and posts will be received by others, especially the group admin. You may end up being removed from the group for repeatedly not following the group rules.
